How do I block files with the Smartlockr add-in?
Updated over 2 months ago

In this article we will show you how to block files that have been sent with the Smartlockr add-in. Blocking files is possible if you used public file, secure file or secure message when sending the message. If the download count is not 0 (zero) anymore that means that a download already happened. In that case it's best to block the files with Smartlockr to prevent another download of the file(s) and to contact the recipient to delete the file on their end.

Public file:

Files that are sent with public file do have encryption on them but don't require authentication to access them. Because of that it's only possible to block the access to file altogether and not for a specific recipient.

Step 1: Return to your sent emails in Outlook and click on the email you have sent out. Click on the ‘Tracking & blocking’ button.

Step 2: Click on the three dots next to the status. You can now block separate or all files.

Secure file or secure message:

When you used this option from Smartlockr you can block access to files for a specific recipient so the other recipients can still download the file(s).

Step 1: Return to your sent emails in Outlook and click on the email you have sent out. Click on the ‘Tracking & blocking’ button.

Step 2: Click ‘See tracking and file information’ for the recipient you need to block files for.

Step 3: Click on the three dots next to the status. You can now block separate or all files.

In this article we showed you how to block access to files after they have been sent with Smartlockr. The options you have depend on the option you chose when sending the files. This is why we divided the article into two sections.
